The Jerusalem Governorate warned about changes recently observed on maps displayed on the website of the Israeli municipality of Jerusalem. The changes involve the reclassification of parts of the town of Silwan and their attachment to what is called the “City of David” neighborhood, stressing that these measures are invalid.

In a statement, the governorate explained that the modifications indicate changes in the planning divisions imposed by the occupation authorities on the town, pointing to a reduction in its area and the re-annexation of parts of it—especially the Wadi Hilweh area—into what the authorities call the “City of David,” which covers about 333.76 dunams.

Israeli occupation forces continue to close the Al-Aqsa Mosque for the eleventh consecutive day, preventing worshippers from performing prayers there under the pretext of security conditions linked to the ongoing war with Iran.

The continued closure during the last ten days of Ramadan is considered a dangerous precedent, as for the first time since the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967, the Tarawih prayers and the spiritual retreat (i‘tikaf) have been prevented inside the mosque.

Occupation authorities have tightened their control over Al-Aqsa and imposed strict restrictions on any public movement that might oppose plans to change the religious and historical status of the mosque compound.
