1. One killed and others injured in Israeli strike on a car in Gaza City

One citizen was killed and others were injured in an Israeli strike on Gaza City.

Local sources reported that Israeli aircraft targeted a car near an UNRWA building in the Al-Sina’a area, west of Gaza City. The strike resulted in the killing of one citizen and the injury of others.

2. Gaza death toll exceeds 74,000 since the beginning of the genocide

The death toll from the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip has risen to 74,018 since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023, while the number of injured has exceeded 175,000, amid the continued loss of life resulting from Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in its daily statistical report that the toll of the offensive had risen to 74,018 killed and 175,079 injured with varying degrees of wounds since the beginning of the offensive on the Strip.

3. Around 2,800 UNRWA employees in Gaza at risk of losing their jobs

A Palestinian source concerned with refugee affairs revealed that around 2,800 employees working for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip are at risk of losing their jobs before the end of this year, as part of measures that, according to the source, aim to reduce the agency’s work and role in the Strip.

The source said that around 1,100 employees are classified as working in “non-essential specialties,” in addition to more than 1,700 employees whose names appeared on lists submitted by “Israel” to the agency’s administration.

4. Smotrich threatens the West Bank with a war modeled on Gaza; E1 tender postponed until after the elections

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich escalated his rhetoric toward the occupied West Bank, calling for a war there similar to what took place in the Gaza Strip and demanding the dismantling of the Palestinian Authority.

This came as the Israeli government’s legal adviser instructed that the deadline for submitting bids in a settlement tender under the E1 plan be postponed until after the Knesset elections scheduled for October 27.

5. Over the past 24 hours: vehicles burned, electricity cut, and settlement expansion

Settler attacks in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, took various forms over the past 24 hours, ranging from the burning of Palestinian vehicles and raids on residential neighborhoods to attacks on agricultural land and electricity networks and the expansion of a settlement outpost. The attacks were distributed across the governorates of Ramallah, Hebron, Nablus, and Jerusalem, affecting interconnected aspects of Palestinian life, including movement, agricultural work, access to services, and remaining in communities surrounded by settlement outposts.

The incidents come ahead of the olive harvest season, amid recent UN warnings about an escalation in attacks and an expansion of their geographical scope.

Fifty-six French organizations, unions, parties and groups called for a month of actions to be organized across France during the coming October, demanding an end to the transfer of military equipment to “Israel” and the termination of forms of military cooperation and arms-related trade between Paris and Tel Aviv.

The signatories said in a statement carried by the French-Palestinian Solidarity Association that the actions aim to expand popular, trade-union and political pressure on the French government and companies linked to the arms industry, amid the continuation of the war on the Gaza Strip and the siege, displacement and violations against Palestinians accompanying it.

Iceland’s foreign minister responded to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s description of the delegations that walked out during his speech as “morally cowardly,” saying that the description applies instead to leaders who prevent humanitarian aid from reaching the Gaza Strip.

10. Irish broadcaster resorts to a workaround to air Israel match amid boycott calls

The Republic of Ireland national team is preparing to face Israel in the UEFA Nations League, in a match that will be broadcast by Ireland’s public broadcaster without commentary, amid calls for a boycott over the country’s position in support of the Palestinian cause.

According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, the broadcaster decided to air the match despite being unable to boycott it because of its contractual obligations, with the game instead being broadcast without commentary. The Football Association of Ireland also relinquished its allocation of tickets intended for its supporters for the match.

13. Boycott movement in France calls for Eurovision broadcast ban because of Israel’s participation

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement in France has called on France’s public broadcaster, France Télévisions, to boycott the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest and stop broadcasting its final unless Israel is permanently excluded from participation.

The movement called for broad pressure to be placed on the European Broadcasting Union to prevent, in its view, the use of art to whitewash the image of an apartheid system, colonialism, and the ongoing genocidal war in Palestine, which has continued for three years.

14. British police arrest artist Robert Del Naja for protesting against the genocide

British police arrested artist Robert Del Naja, the leader of the renowned band Massive Attack, under the Terrorism Act in Liverpool, following his public expression of solidarity opposing the suppression of the movement supporting Palestine.

Del Naja was arrested while participating in a peaceful demonstration on the eve of the start of the governing Labour Party’s conference. He held a sign reading: “I oppose genocide and support Palestine Action,” expressing his opposition to the British authorities’ decision to ban the direct-action movement and designate it as a “terrorist organization.”

A group of activists attacked the headquarters of Kelvin-Side Electronics in Glasgow, Scotland, for the second time, protesting its alleged involvement in supplying military technology to weapons manufacturers that supply the Israeli army.

The company provides welding services and electronic components to Leonardo, one of the world’s largest weapons manufacturers.

Leonardo’s facility in Edinburgh, Scotland, produces laser-guidance systems for F-35 fighter aircraft, which the Israeli army uses in bombing Gaza and carrying out what activists describe as a genocidal war. The activist group is demanding that the company immediately terminate its contract with the weapons facility.

Ireland national football team goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu informed his teammates that he categorically refused to participate in the national team’s upcoming matches against Israel as part of the UEFA Nations League.

The Students for Justice in Palestine chapter at the University of Toledo in the United States condemned the university administration’s decision to host Zionist writer and journalist Thomas Friedman, describing the move as blatant complicity and a preference for the agendas of the racist right over the values and demands of the student movement.

The organization said that, through the invitation, the university administration had demonstrated its willingness to completely ignore the feelings and positions of its student body in order to appease advocates of white supremacy and colonial crimes.

18. Microsoft and tech giants accused of funding genocide through artificial intelligence

An opinion article published in the British newspaper The Guardian accused major technology companies, particularly Microsoft, of direct complicity in the killing of Palestinians by providing artificial-intelligence systems and cloud services to the Israeli army.

The Israeli army used the Azure platform to store and process huge amounts of Palestinian communications, while documents reportedly showed that the value of Microsoft’s contracts with Israel’s Ministry of Defense amounted to approximately $10 million and included thousands of hours of engineering support and intelligence units, including Unit 8200.

19. Palestinian Youth says Israeli multimillion-dollar propaganda campaign has failed to mobilize US support

The Palestinian Youth movement emphasized what it described as the failure of systematic efforts and paid propaganda sponsored by the Israeli government to purchase popular US support for the genocidal war, describing the massive advertisements displayed in New York’s Times Square as a futile effort.

The movement said that the expansionist and genocidal nature of Zionism has now become an openly declared threat to the entire world, asserting that the vast sums spent on promotional billboards supporting Israel had failed to deceive the American public.
