**4. UNRWA: Severe shortage of basic aid threatens the lives of hundreds of thousands in Gaza**

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned that harsh weather conditions in the Gaza Strip are exacerbating an already deteriorating humanitarian crisis, pushing it toward a stage that threatens the lives of hundreds of thousands, amid a severe shortage of basic aid—particularly shelter materials and medicines.
The agency said that heavy rainfall and flooding, combined with fragile infrastructure and the collapse of shelters, are exposing thousands of displaced families to increasing risks.

**5. Dangerous escalation: Settler’s family demands the execution of prisoner Ahmad Dawabsha**

The Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said that the family of the killed settler in the case of prisoner Ahmad Samer Dawabsha from the town of Duma, south of Nablus, submitted a request to the Israeli military occupation court to carry out the death sentence against prisoner Dawabsha.
The two institutions said the request included a demand to change the panel of judges and replace them with higher-ranking judges to decide on the matter, based on military orders under which occupation military courts have operated for decades. Accordingly, the court granted the prosecution and the defense time until January 12 to respond to the request.

About 20 families were forced to flee from the northern side of the Shalal al-Auja Bedouin community north of the city of Jericho, due to the escalation of repeated settler attacks accompanied by assaults and direct threats.
Hassan Malihat, general supervisor of the Al-Baidar Organization for Human Rights, explained in a press statement that the displaced families belong to the Al-Amreen (“Al-Kaabneh”) families, and were compelled to leave their homes and sources of livelihood out of fear for their safety, amid the absence of any protection and the continuation of pressure and intimidation policies aimed at emptying the area of its original residents.

**7. Journalists’ Syndicate condemns continued ban on foreign media entering Gaza**

The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate condemned the continued prevention by Israeli occupation forces of foreign journalists from entering the Gaza Strip for the third consecutive year.
The syndicate said this comes by decision of the Israeli occupation government and with the endorsement of its highest court, which reversed its previous decision in its last session last year to present a clear plan for allowing foreign press into Gaza by January 4, instead approving the government’s request to continue the ban.
It considered this decision part of a systematic policy aimed at isolating the Strip from the world and obscuring the truth about the war of genocide and ethnic cleansing committed by the occupation in Gaza—one of the most serious contemporary crimes against press freedom.

**9. Canadian court drops charges against nine detainees supporting Palestine**

Criminal charges were dropped against nine solidarity activists who were arrested during a pro-Palestine demonstration in Toronto last fall, led by Indigenous residents, after hundreds gathered near the Global Affairs Canada office to protest the occupation’s abduction of activists from the Freedom Flotilla attempting to break the siege on Gaza.
The arrests took place on October 8, 2025, six hours after the demonstration. Organizers confirmed that police attempted to end the protest violently, including an officer named Bernardo driving a civilian vehicle into the crowd and police officers assaulting several protesters, as shown in videos posted on Instagram.
Nine separate charges had been brought against the protesters, including unlawful assembly, obstructing a peace officer, and causing a public disturbance, before they were withdrawn six weeks after their court appearance.

In an advanced step, the board announced it would hold a special meeting to provide members with an opportunity to discuss the petition in an open forum and vote on the boycott decision.

**11. Campaign calls on Ealing Council to stop investing in genocide**

Activists in the campaign “Ealing: Cut Ties with Genocide” called on the UK’s Ealing Council to reconsider its investments, after it was revealed that the council’s pension fund invests more than £112 million in companies complicit with the occupation, including firms such as Elbit Systems, Palantir, and Maersk.
The activists noted that these investments represent direct support for companies that arm the occupation and contribute to the continuation of violations and genocide in the Gaza Strip, in contradiction to humanitarian principles and human rights.
The campaign stressed that Ealing Council is supposed to serve local residents and respond to their needs, yet instead chooses to invest millions in arms, technology, and logistics companies that perpetuate repression and aggression against Palestinians.

**13. University of Cambridge: Gaza’s children will lose the equivalent of five years of education due to the war**

An international report issued by the UK’s University of Cambridge warned of a grave threat to the future of Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip, cautioning against the emergence of what it described as a “lost generation” due to the catastrophic accumulation of educational, physical, and psychological impacts after more than two years of Israel’s ongoing genocidal war.
The report, prepared in cooperation with UNRWA, explained that children in Gaza will lose the equivalent of five full years of education as a result of repeated closures of educational institutions since 2020—from the COVID-19 pandemic to waves of Israeli bombardment that led to a near-complete paralysis of the educational process.

**14. Calls to support the “Stanford 11” during their trial in the U.S. in solidarity with Palestine**

The group “Students for Justice in Palestine” (USFCastudents4Palestine) called on activists and supporters of Palestine to attend the open court hearings of the students known as the “Stanford 11” in the United States, scheduled for Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Hall of Justice in Santa Clara, Department 53, 190–200 W. Hedding Street, San Jose, California.
The group noted that jury selection has been completed and that opening arguments will begin Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. It confirmed that Stanford University and the prosecution have attempted to silence these students at every step, including trying to ban the word “genocide” inside the courtroom. The “Stanford 11” are on trial for their solidarity stance with Palestine.
Supporters were urged to arrive early to hear announcements from the students’ defense committee, with announcements repeated during the lunch break at 12:00 p.m. The group emphasized that strong courtroom attendance sends a clear message that the Bay Area stands with the “Stanford 11,” regardless of attempts by the state to isolate, intimidate, or criminalize student resistance.

Supporters of Palestine in Seoul continue to organize a rotating individual protest in solidarity with Palestine in front of the Israeli embassy, in a peaceful action that has reached 550 consecutive days and is considered one of the longest continuous forms of individual protest related to Gaza in South Korea.
The protest follows a rotating system: one volunteer stands each day for several hours before handing over to another volunteer the next day, in accordance with Korean laws that allow individual protests without prior authorization. Participants carry signs calling for an end to Israeli attacks and accountability for massacres and violations in Gaza; some also raise the Palestinian flag or wear the keffiyeh.

**16. Global Sumud (Steadfastness) Flotilla calls for pressure on the occupation to return its pirated boats**

The Global Sumud Flotilla condemned the interception of its boats and the abduction of their crew members in July 2025, while they were en route to deliver humanitarian aid including food, medicine, and infant formula. It described the incident as a direct violation of international maritime law and a blatant challenge to global rules that protect ships, sailors, and humanitarian efforts at sea.
The flotilla emphasized that every vessel sails under a national flag, which determines its legal nationality and obliges the flag state to protect its ships in international waters. Under international maritime law, a vessel is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its flag state, making any attempt to obstruct or attack the ship a violation of that state’s sovereign rights.
