1. 5 killed in Israeli shelling and gunfire in Gaza
For the 187th consecutive day, the Israeli army continues to violate the ceasefire and de-escalation agreement that came into effect on October 11, 2025, in the Gaza Strip, amid ongoing shelling, gunfire, and demolition of civilian homes, alongside tightened military restrictions on the enclave’s crossings.
Four civilians, including a child and a police officer, were killed after Israeli forces targeted a police vehicle in Gaza City.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed the death of a police officer and three civilians, including a child, and the injury of nine others—both police personnel and passersby, some critically—after Israeli aircraft struck a police vehicle belonging to the Al-Tuffah and Al-Daraj police station during a routine mission this afternoon.

**2. Gaza municipalities warn of service and environmental collapse due to blockade and fuel ban**
Municipalities in the Gaza Strip warned of an imminent collapse of basic services due to the ongoing blockade and Israel’s prevention of fuel, heavy equipment, and spare parts from entering, worsening health and environmental crises and threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands of residents.
Yahya Al-Sarraj, head of the Gaza Municipalities Union, said the region is experiencing suffocating conditions due to restrictions on essential supplies, noting that only very limited amounts of food are allowed in, without the fuel and equipment needed to operate water wells and electricity generators.

**3. Human rights center calls on the Pope to visit Gaza and witness the humanitarian tragedy**
The Gaza Center for Human Rights issued a humanitarian and moral appeal to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, urging him to visit the Gaza Strip as soon as possible and witness firsthand the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe affecting more than two million people, including members of the Christian community who have shared in the suffering due to what it described as genocide carried out by Israel.

**4. Prisoner institutions: rise in administrative detention and increasing numbers of sick prisoners and deaths**
Palestinian prisoner institutions revealed that the number of Palestinian and Arab detainees in Israeli prisons has exceeded 9,600 as of early April 2026, amid escalating detention policies, particularly administrative detention.
In a joint statement, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners Club, and Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association said there are 86 female prisoners, including two detained before the outbreak of the war, as well as 25 held under administrative detention.
