1. 6 killed and others injured in Israeli bombing targeting Gaza port
Six people, including a child, were killed and others were injured in an Israeli bombing west of Gaza City.
Local sources reported that the Israeli airstrike targeted a café inside the port in western Gaza City, killing 6 people, including a child, and injuring 14 others.
2. 6 settlement outposts and a settler road encircle Burqa town east of Ramallah
After settlers erected a new settlement tent in the “Al-Karm” area on the lands of Burqa village, east of Ramallah, the town has become surrounded by settlements on all four sides.
With 6 settlement outposts, settlement expansion is encroaching on Burqa village, surrounding it from 3 sides, while on the fourth side runs Settlement Road 60, which controls most of its land.
3. Continued settlement escalation in the West Bank: outpost construction, land seizures and attacks targeting residents and their property
Settlers continue their escalation on the ground in the West Bank, under the protection of Israeli forces, by expanding existing settlement outposts, establishing new ones, and carrying out attacks against residents and their property.
Settlers expanded the settlement outpost established on Mount Mustafa al-Ali in the village of Beitillu, west of Ramallah, and established a new settlement outpost on the lands of Nahalin town, west of Bethlehem.
4. Israeli forces arrest 7 Palestinians, including a doctor and two children, during raids in the West Bank and Jerusalem
Israeli forces continued raids and arrest campaigns across various parts of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, resulting in the arrest of 7 people, including a doctor and two children.
In the Bethlehem Governorate, Israeli forces raided Tuqu’ town south of the governorate, searched several homes, and arrested three people: Ahmad Awda Allah al-Amour, Musa Jawdat al-Amour, and Ahmad Suleiman Abu Mufreh.
In the Jerusalem Governorate, Israeli forces arrested 15-year-old Zahir Abu Eid after raiding his family home and ransacking its contents in the town of Anata, northeast of Jerusalem.
5. Gaza Municipalities Union appeals for urgent intervention to allow fuel and spare parts into Gaza
The Gaza Municipalities Union called on the United Nations and mediators to intervene immediately and urgently to pressure the Israeli side to allow the entry of essential supplies needed to keep vital facilities operating in the Gaza Strip.
The union also called for pressure to be exerted to allow the entry of mineral oils, which it said are being banned without explanation, along with fuel and diesel needed to operate vital facilities and ensure the continuity of basic services for residents.
6. Qusra Municipality: The siege is worsening families’ suffering and aid is at risk of running out
The mayor of Qusra, south of Nablus, Abd al-Azim Wadi, said that the suffering of families under siege in Qusra town has worsened for the tenth consecutive day amid the tightening of the siege and the prevention of sufficient aid from reaching the three besieged homes.
Wadi confirmed that settlers remain in the vicinity of the homes and are exerting pressure on residents, under heavy protection from Israeli forces.

8. Calls for a protest outside the Austrian Embassy in Dublin demanding a boycott of matches involving Israel
Calls have been made for a protest outside the Austrian Embassy in Dublin, the Irish capital, on Saturday, August 22, at 2 p.m., as part of a campaign aimed at preventing the “sport-washing of genocide” and demanding the cancellation of Ireland’s football matches against the Israeli national team in the UEFA Nations League.
The demonstration, organized by the #StopTheGame campaign, comes amid an ongoing movement that has included demonstrations outside the Irish Parliament and Aviva Stadium, as well as large protests in London and Sydney, aimed at pressuring the Football Association of Ireland to refuse to play against Israel anywhere.
9. New Zealand pension fund commits to reviewing investments in 4 companies accused of complicity with Israel
The governing body of New Zealand’s sovereign wealth fund (the pension fund) issued a new responsible investment policy, under which it committed to reviewing its investments in four major international companies that protesters and pro-Palestinian groups are calling for a boycott of and divestment from because of their role in supporting the Israeli occupation system.
The commitment followed a legal victory achieved by activists Maher Nazzal, Rawya al-Fahnawi, and John Minto in the New Zealand High Court against the fund. Judge Simon Mount ruled that the fund’s current investment policies violate its legal obligations to avoid harming New Zealand’s international reputation.
10. British lawyer who defended Palestine Action activists faces legal proceedings
UK human rights lawyer Rajiv Menon is facing criminal charges of “contempt of court” over his closing defense argument for activists from the Palestine Action movement, who were prosecuted under counterterrorism laws following a raid on an arms factory belonging to Elbit Systems in Filton in 2024.
The proceedings constitute a serious legal precedent and are the first of their kind in British judicial history to target a defense lawyer over statements made in court. Judge Nicklin accused Menon of misleading the jury and suggesting that the court was not impartial after he referred to the defendants being prevented from giving evidence concerning Israeli crimes.
11. French authorities threaten to deport freed Palestinian prisoner and his family
French authorities notified freed Palestinian prisoner Ibrahim Barnat of a decision to withdraw his official residency documents and deport him from the country, in what was described as an unjust punitive measure despite his complete acquittal of the terrorism-related charges against him.
In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera, Barnat said that the arbitrary deportation decision does not target him alone but also affects his family and children, who hold French citizenship. He described the measure as politically motivated persecution.
12. Demonstration at the University of Limerick in Ireland against participation of Israeli team
The grounds of the University of Limerick in Ireland witnessed a large protest condemning the participation of a team representing the Israeli occupation system in the World Flying Disc (frisbee) Championship.
Throughout the match, protesters chanted slogans rejecting “genocide in sport” and condemning the apartheid system, affirming their full support for the Palestinian people and calling for the immediate exclusion of all teams affiliated with Israel from international competitions.
13. Calls for Atalanta fans to boycott match against Israeli team in Bergamo
Youth and human-rights groups have launched appeals to fans of Italian club Atalanta to leave the stadium and boycott the scheduled match against Hapoel Tel Aviv, a team affiliated with the Israeli system, due to take place on Thursday, August 20, in Bergamo, in protest against the war and efforts to whitewash Israeli crimes.
Activists called on the Italian club’s fans and sports organizations to withdraw and leave the stands in defense of humanitarian values and in response to the official appeal from the Palestinian federation and the global conscience to expel Israel from international sport.
14. Palestinian film wins Special Jury Prize at Locarno Film Festival
The Palestinian film The Revolutionaries Never Die, directed by Muhannad Yaqubi, won the Special Jury Prize in the Filmmakers of the Present competition at the 79th Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland.
The winning film is a co-production between Palestine, Belgium and Qatar. As part of the award, it received a promotional campaign worth 25,000 Swiss francs (around $29,000) through Ciné+ OCS channels, coinciding with its release in French cinemas.
15. University of Manchester resumes research partnership with Tel Aviv University despite student protests
The University of Manchester intends to resume research cooperation with Tel Aviv University, which is affiliated with the Israeli occupation system, three years after the partnership was suspended because of the war in Gaza, in a clear challenge to strong student opposition and a student-union vote calling for a complete severing of academic relations.
The newspaper The Mancunion revealed that Tel Aviv University has joined the University of Manchester’s new Global Fund program, which is intended to support joint research projects. Manchester will contribute up to £5,000 per project, with equivalent funding expected from the Israeli side.
16. German parliamentarians call for European sanctions against Ben-Gvir
Jürgen Hardt, foreign-policy expert for the Christian Democratic Union, and Dietmar Bartsch, a member of the Left Party, called on the European Union to impose official sanctions on Itamar Ben-Gvir, including a ban on his entry into European territory.
The parliamentary moves in Berlin came following Ben-Gvir’s statements calling for intensified strikes on the Gaza Strip, the killing of 30 to 40 Palestinians every night without exceptions, and his repeated calls for the displacement of residents and the re-establishment of settlements.

US presenter Glenna Milberg interrupted Oliver Larkin, the Democratic candidate for the US House of Representatives from Florida, and immediately ended the television interview after he accused Israel of committing acts of genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
19. Francesca: Israel delegates repression to settlers to carry out ethnic cleansing
Albanese explained that the use of settler militias comes within the context of expanding control over the land and restricting the Palestinian presence.
She stressed that these practices are carried out with the direct support and protection of the Israeli military to force Palestinians into displacement, constituting a flagrant violation of international law and a continuation of the crime of genocide and ongoing displacement against the Palestinian people.
20. UN: 350 humanitarian workers killed in 2025
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) revealed that 350 humanitarian workers around the world were killed in 2025, including 186 in Gaza and 71 in Sudan.
In a statement, the office said that “2025 recorded another tragic record in terms of violence against humanitarian workers, with 907 workers in this field killed, injured or kidnapped.”
Since the beginning of 2026, 82 humanitarian workers have been killed, 97 injured and 39 kidnapped in different parts of the world, according to OCHA.
21. 19 cities around the world demonstrate to demand an end to the siege of Gaza
Nineteen cities around the world, including Istanbul, are preparing to hold simultaneous demonstrations next Wednesday, which coincides with World Humanitarian Day, demanding that humanitarian aid be allowed into the Gaza Strip amid the continuing siege and Israeli restrictions imposed on the territory.
22. UN calls for an end to the occupation and for Palestinians to exercise their right to self-determination
Thameen Al-Kheetan, spokesperson for the UN Human Rights Office, called for an end to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and for the Palestinian people to be enabled to exercise their right to self-determination, amid continuing violations and escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Al-Kheetan confirmed that the position of the UN Human Rights Office regarding Israel’s announcement rejecting the roadmap for implementing the second phase of the Gaza agreement has not changed.
