**4. Khan Younis Municipality: The Third Low-Pressure System Puts More Than 900,000 Displaced People at Risk of Drowning and Disease**

Saeb Al-Laqan, spokesperson for the Khan Younis Municipality, confirmed that the third and most severe low-pressure system this winter has worsened the humanitarian catastrophe in the governorate, amid an almost complete paralysis of municipal operations due to the lack of fuel and the prevention of diesel entry for more than a week.
In a special press statement to Shehab Agency, Al-Laqan said that heavy rainfall and strong winds turned low-lying areas west of Khan Younis—where more than 900,000 displaced people are concentrated in Al-Mawasi to the north and south—into extensive flooding zones. He noted that the worn-out tents, erected more than two years ago, can no longer withstand the conditions, and many were blown away during the latest storm.
He added that the occupation destroyed more than 240,000 linear meters of road networks in the governorate, leading to the disappearance of road landmarks, the flow of torrents and valleys through neighborhoods and shelters, and the mixing of rainwater with sewage and waste, warning of the imminent spread of diseases and epidemics.

These bodies confirmed that the settlements are illegal under international law, as they were established on confiscated Palestinian land.
The protesters explained that promoting hotels, guesthouses, and tourist accommodation units within settlements contributes to profits for settlers, while Palestinians are subjected to displacement, siege, and bombardment.
They also condemned the “touristic whitewashing” of settlements, as these sites are presented on the platform as “holiday destinations,” completely ignoring the reality of military occupation, land theft, checkpoints, and the daily aggression carried out by the occupation army against the Palestinian people.
